Manchester City will hope to reach the Champions League semi-finals when they face Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Citizens drew 3-3 against the La Liga giants in the Spanish capital last week, and now return to The Etihad looking to continue their pursuit of a second successive treble.
Manager Pep Gurdiola guided his side to the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup last term, and the Citizens remain firmly in the hunt for all three trophies this time around.
In the meantime, one of City’s transfer targets has reportedly been given a staggering price tag.
Bayer Leverkusen chief executive Fernando Carro has revealed that Florian Wirtz will only be available at a huge price this summer.
“No one is unsellable, but Wirtz will not leave for less than €150 million,” he told Marca, as reported by 90min.
That fee, converted to around £128 million at current exchange rates, would make Wirtz the fourth most expensive player of all time, behind only Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Philippe Coutinho.
The Germany international has been in sensational form for Leverkusen this term, helping propel Xabi Alonso’s side to a first ever Bundesliga title with five games remaining.
Wirtz, 20, has scored 17 goals in 41 games across all competitions so far this term, as well as providing 18 assists.
He scored a remarkable hat-trick on Sunday, as Leverkusen beat Werder Bremen 5-0 to confirm their league title triumph.
The attacking midfielder has been a target for Man City for some time now, but has also attracted interest from fellow Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Wirtz joined Leverkusen from FC Koln’s youth academy in 2020, and has since scored 40 goals and registered 48 assists in 144 games for his current club.
