Liverpool have serious interest in signing Premier League ‘keeper | Shoot

Liverpool will aim to keep alive their slim Premier League title chances when they face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds have suffered three defeats in their past four league games, making it almost certain that Jurgen Klopp will fail to lift another trophy before he departs the club this summer.

Spurs, meanwhile, are still in the hunt for a top four spot and qualification for next season’s Champions League.

In the meantime, those in charge of Liverpool’s recruitment are working hard off the pitch to identify potential transfer targets for the upcoming summer window.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have ‘concrete’ interest in signing Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford this summer.

The 21-year-old is a product of Manchester City’s youth academy and joined the Clarets last summer, having impressed on loan at Football League side Bolton Wanderers.

Trafford has endured a difficult season at Turf Moor

Trafford had also played a key role for England Under-21s as they won the European Championships last year, notably saving a penalty in the ninth minute of added time as the Young Lions beat Spain 1-0 in the final.

The Englishman started this season as Burnley’s first choice ‘keeper, but has lost his starting spot in recent weeks with Arajinet Muric taking his place for the Clarets’ last seven league games.

In total he has played 28 times this season, keeping just two clean sheets and conceding 62 goals.

It is claimed that Liverpool have been scouting Trafford regularly this season and could make a move for him this summer if current back-up ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher departs the club.

The Irishman is said to be considering his future at Anfield and could push for a move away from Merseyside in order to secure more regular first team football.

Trafford is currently contracted to the Clarets until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the club could struggle to keep hold of him if they are relegated to the Championship next month.
