Stefano Pioli is destined to be dismissed by Milan in the summer, a decision that has seemingly been building over the last five months.
The pressure has been building on the 58-year-old Italian for months now, but things have changed following the recent Europa League quarter-final exit at the hands of Roma, a result which seems to have condemned the coach.
Multiple reports from Italy claim that Milan have made up their minds, planning to dismiss Pioli at the end of the season to make space for a replacement. Possible replacements for the tactician include Mark van Bommel, Christophe Galtier, Paulo Fonseca, Julen Lopetegui and Marcelo Gallardo.
Pioli dissatisfaction
As reported by Calciomercato.com, frustration has been building with Pioli internally at Milan since the first half of the season, with owner Gerry Cardinale starting to lose faith all the way back in December, when he stated that he was ‘not satisfied with our current position in Serie A or the Champions League’.
This dissatisfaction has been building since, but a run of good results helped paper over the cracks. Despite that, belief in the coach was low and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was increasingly convinced that a change was needed, confirming his position following the Europa League exit.
