The newly crowned champions travel to the side they succeeded on Thursday night, as the Premier League’s top two meet at the Etihad in a hugely anticipated fixture.
Here is all you need to know about Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool tomorrow:
Form
Manchester City: LWWLW
Defeat at Chelsea saw City relinquish their Premier League crown, the loss remarkably their eighth of the league season so far after previously setting unprecedented heights in the previous two seasons.
Pep Guardiola’s side have blown opposition sides away on occasion this term, but familiar faults were once again exposed at Stamford Bridge as their defensive options continually fail to convince.
Kevin De Bruyne continues to stand head and shoulders above his teammates and the Belgian will need a helping hand if Man City are to finish the season successfully, Raheem Sterling struggling to rediscover his early-season form with just one league goal in his last eight outings.
Guardiola’s focus will now be on finally landing a maiden Champions League title for City and the Spaniard will be seeking to fine-tune his side ahead of August’s European campaign, there may be no better test of their credentials than a visit of the reigning Premier League and European champions.
Liverpool: WDWLW
That aforementioned defeat for City at Chelsea saw Liverpool embark on celebrations three decades in the making, Jurgen Klopp’s side crowned as champions of England with a record seven games to spare.
The Reds’ coronation comes after a campaign which has seen them drop points on just three occasions thus far, and a whole host of records are within their reach ahead of the run-in including most wins, most points and biggest ever winning margin.
Whether Klopp seeks further history with his side over the remaining fixtures remains to be seen, the relatively quick turnaround between the current campaign ending and next season starting meaning the German may already be looking to his side’s title defence.
The likes of Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino will hope for further minutes as they bid to state their case for more regular inclusion, whilst youngsters Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams will hope to add to their appearance totals and qualify for a winners medal.
Mohamed Salah – trailing leader Jamie Vardy by two goals at present – will also be seeking a third successive Golden Boot during the run-in, a feat only previously achieved by Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry.

Last meeting
Liverpool 3-1 Manchester City, November 10th 2019
Liverpool took control of the Premier League title race with a rampant attacking display at Anfield, overwhelming the visitors with two goals in the opening 13 minutes amid a raucous atmosphere on Merseyside.
Fabinho opened the scoring with a thunderous strike from distance, the goal given following a VAR check against a Trent Alexander-Arnold handball at the opposite end before Liverpool countered.
Mohamed Salah doubled the home side’s lead after heading home Andy Robertson’s superb cross, before Sadio Mane made it 3-0 just six minutes into the second half.
Bernardo Silva’s reply for City proved little more than a consolation, Liverpool moving eight points clear at the top of the division and nine clear of their defeated opposition.
