Chelsea to sell four homegrown players this summer | Shoot

Chelsea’s season went from bad to worse on Tuesday as they were thrashed 5-0 by London rivals Arsenal at The Emirates.

The hosts started superbly and went ahead inside five minutes, when Leandro Trossard netted his 16th goal of the season across all competitions.

After the break, the Gunners ran riot with former Chelsea man Kai Havertz and defender Ben White both scoring twice to earn the hosts a memorable victory and keep alive their hopes of winning the Premier League title.

For Chelsea, the defeat leaves them ninth in the top flight table, and increases the pressure on manager Mauricio Pochettino.

This summer could be a significant one at Stamford Bridge, with plenty of incomings and outgoings expected.

Now, though, it appears that the London club could allow a number of homegrown players to leave.

According to Football Insider, the Blues could allow Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen to leave this summer, in order to ensure that Levi Colwill stays put.

Gallagher has been a regular under Pochettino this season

Defender Colwill is currently sidelined due to injury but has enjoyed an impressive debut season for the Blues, and has therefore attracted interest from both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea are desperate to keep hold of the centre-back, though, and could therefore allow other players to leave in order to raise funds and ensure they balance the books.

Left-back Matsen is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, while Armando Broja joined Fulham on loan during the recent January transfer window.

The pair are expected to be put up for sale when they return this summer, while Gallagher could also be made available.

The central midfielder has been a regular for the Blues over the past two seasons, and has made 44 appearances so far this term as well as captaining the side on several occasions.

Despite this, the England international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club and could therefore be sold this summer.

Chalobah, meanwhile, has recently returned to action after a long injury lay-off but, despite impressing, is set to be surplus to requirements and will also be made available for sale.
