Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways, Blackburn will welcome Peterborough to Ewood Park on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, after coming from behind and grabbing a point at Bristol City over the weekend, Blackburn will be glad to make a return to home soil here. Still with their sights set on trying to clinch a play-off spot this season, Tony Mowbray’s men should be smelling the chance to find a boost on Wednesday night. Heading into the international break with a thumping 3-1 win at home against Sheffield United, the Rovers do appear to have largely put their October blip behind them. With their sole defeat from their last five Championship matchups coming against title contenders Fulham, Mowbray’s side also have one attacking talisman enjoying a stellar run of form. Finding the net against Bristol City over the weekend, Chile international Ben Brereton has already racked up 14 Championship strikes so far this season.
As for the visitors, marking their return from the international break with a deserved 2-0 defeat away at Stoke on Saturday, Peterborough appear to be in a real battle to extend on their Championship status. Opening the midweek fixtures sat firmly in the bottom-three, the Blues have shown some extended issues on either side of the international break. With it looking like last month’s much-needed victory against QPR was just a minor boost, the Posh have collected just a single point from their last four second-tier fixtures. Knowing that they could face another stern test at Ewood Park here, Darren Ferguson’s side also hold a worrying record against Wednesday’s hosts. Suffering a 3-1 loss when the two sides last faced off back in 2018, they have in fact lost four of their five meetings against Blackburn.
