Atlanta United academy’s Ajani Fortune called into Trinidad & Tobago national team

Atlanta United academy midfielder Ajani Fortune has been called into Trinidad & Tobago’s senior national team for their international friendly Sunday against the US men’s national team (7 pm ET | FS1, UniMas, TUDN) at Exploria Stadium, the home of Orlando City SC.

Fortune, 18, joined Atlanta’s academy ahead of the 2018-19 season and has featured in 11 matches (five starts) for ATLUTD 2 in the USL Championship. He also scored during a Sept. 12 match against Miami FC.

Fortune had made four appearances with Trinidad & Tobago’s U-17 national team. He featured at the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship, giving him experience in the Soca Warriors setup. While with Atlanta’s academy, Fortune has scored five goals in 19 games for their U-17 team. He’s also played in seven matches for their U-19s.

Should Fortune make his Trinidad & Tobago against the USMNT, he could come against Atlanta left back George Bello and center back Miles Robinson. Both made the final USMNT roster after their January camp in Florida.
