Wright warns Man Utd unbeaten run could be sunk by Tottenham duo

    Date published: Sunday 14th June 2020 7:55

Ian Wright believes a certain deadly Tottenham duo have the firepower to upset Man Utd and end their unbeaten run in their first match back.

The Red Devils will enter the occasion as favourites, mainly due to their sparkling form prior to football’s hiatus.

Solskjaer’s side went unbeaten in 11 matches across all competitions as The Red Devils found their mid-season groove.

The inspired January addition of Bruno Fernandes breathed new life into Man Utd’s attacking play.

His influence, along with the returning Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford is sure to give Jose Mourinho plenty of defensive headaches.

But it is the dynamic Tottenham attacking duo of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min that Wright believes could be the difference.

Like Rashford, Kane is returning from an injury layoff, and Wright believes the extended break will have done wonders for Kane.

“The enforced rest he had will be good for him because I think over the last few years he’s needed a rest like that,” the Arsenal legend said on Premier League Productions (via The Metro).

“He’s not had it, he’s been forced to play, he’s come back early in certain situations and now he’s probably raring to go.

“They’ve had even more time to make sure that they can get him totally right.

“His ankle has been a problem and so you’re thinking hopefully that they’ve really gone to town on it, found out everything that was wrong because of what he means to the club.

“With Bruno Fernandes and his form before the break, you’re looking at them and there’s a lot of potency in that Man United side now.

“But if Spurs can keep it tight and get the ball to Son and Harry Kane, they can nick the game for them, they can win the game. So I wouldn’t put it past them simply because those two are back.”

    Wright on Son Heung-min

On Son, Wright added: “I’m very surprised that he doesn’t get a lot more notice from bigger teams like the Barcelonas and Real Madrids, I think he can play for those teams.

“When you look at him: pace, goalscoring. He’s got everything. He can do everything, left foot, right foot.

“He’s definitely got that hunger to score. He gets himself opportunities to score and he’s one of those that when he goes through I always fancy him to score.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham are set to move for a €40m-rated former loanee also wanted by Chelsea.
