Kia Joorabchian, the agent of Chelsea midfielder Willian, has denied speaking to Tottenham about a deal for his client.
Willian is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move across London to Spurs. Back in April Spanish outlet Sport that claimed Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain were set to battle it out for Willian after Barcelona turned down the chance to move for the Brazilian.
When pressed on those reports at the time, Joorabchian told Sky Sports he had “not spoken about transfers or anything like that” with Willian. The agent has now gone into more detail about his client’s future, name-checking Spurs in another interview with Sky Sports.
Joorabchian hinted Willian could leave Stamford Bridge when his contract is up but denied talks with Tottenham – or any other club.
He said: “At the moment, he’s a Chelsea player. He has a contract with Chelsea until the season is over, so I think it is disrespectful to talk about him moving to other clubs.
“We have not spoken to Tottenham, or any other club, at the moment.”
Even at 31, Willian would be a useful addition to the squad. And having worked successfully with Mourinho before, there is a chance the Spurs boss would get the best out of his former player.
