Video – Messi and Barcelona are back in business, 4-0

Lionel Messi and Barcelona won four-nil at Mallorca who couldn’t keep a fan off the pitch in an empty stadium nevermind the ball out of the net.

Lionel Messi and Barcelona were returning to the field under strange circumstances but it was business as usual for the Argentine superstar and his teammates.

It only took Barcelona two minutes to get back to winning ways.

Arturo Vidal scored a thumping header with just two minutes on the clock of the first game back from the coronavirus lockdown. The Chilean got on the end of a flick from Jordi Alba.

While Mallorca looked dangerous on occasion Barcelona took the initiative and typically dominated all the action.

Lionel Messi sporting a new youthful look was as menacing and humiliating as ever.

Before the break, Barcelona doubled their lead with an unlikely scorer.

Martin Braithwaite gets his first goal for the club and repays Quique Setien for giving him a start ahead of Luis Suarez.

A deft glancing header from none other than Lionel Messi guides the ball to the Danish striker who smashes the ball into the roof of the net.

If things were not bad enough for Mallorca on the night, in the 54th minute the game was interrupted by a pitch invader. Quite bizarre scenes at a game that has no spectators behind closed doors at the San Moix Stadium.

The 57th minute saw an end to proceedings for Antoine Griezmann as the World Cup winner made way for Luis Suarez.

Messi and Suarez were up to their old tricks almost immediately. Although it appeared that the pair were just a little off their usual perfect selves after three months off.

In the 79th minute, Jordi Alba’s tireless night’s work got the Spanish defender his just rewards. He sprung the offside trap and scored a screamer.

None other than Lionel Messi himself wrapped proceedings up with a goal of his own in the 93rd minute.

It only took 30 minutes but the partnership was back to perfection.

Suarez to Messi, the Argentine twists, turns, shows his magic, and bang in a goal.

    Four- Nil Barcelona win.

Barcelona has opened up a five-point lead at the top of La Liga.

But Real Madrid can reign that back to two tomorrow when they face Eibar.
