Valencia Following injury time penalty
Mouctar Diakhaby has come in for some heavy criticism since giving away an injury time penalty against rivals Levante that cost Valencia two points, no less from his coach Albert Celades.
The Valencia boss slammed the Frenchman after the game but Diakhaby mentioned that they have had a good talk since then.
“I spoke to the coach. We had a normal and constructive dialogue,” he told L’Equipe.
“Later I learned that he had criticised me to the press conference after the game.
“The difference between his anger after the game and his talk the next day surprised me. But that’s all.”
Movistar journalist Pichi Alonso had claimed that Diakhaby broke down in tears after Celades showed him a video of his mistakes, but the former Lyon player has outright denied that.
“I’m surprised and shocked [about those claims] because none of that happened,” he stated.
“We never had a video session with a montage of my mistakes. That’s a lie.”
Diakhaby is now focused on righting his recent wrongs.
“I made a mistake that cost two points, obviously I was angry with myself but I’m not going to sink,” he said.
“I will continue working. In my opinion, I have shown more good than bad things since my arrival.
“Obviously I can do even better”, he concluded.
