Barcelona academy defender and reported Manchester United academy target Marc Jurado has announced he has left the Spanish giants.
Teenage defender Marc Jurado is held in high regard not only at Barcelona but across the footballing world as one of the top defensive prospects.
Jurado took to social media to confirm he was departing La Masia and expressed his gratitude to the club.
He said:
“Today it’s time to say goodbye, but not before expressing my gratitude to each of the people who have helped me since I started in the year 2011.”
“We started as boys who just wanted to run after a ball and I say goodbye, nine years later, calling them friends.”
“Only we know the immense luck we have had with all the coaches who have developed us and helped us to keep fulfilling our dreams.”
“Every stage has a beginning and an end. Mine, having reflected a lot with my family, has come. I leave behind unforgettable memories which will always stay with me.”
If he does indeed join United, he would be following a similar path to current Barcelona legend Gerard Pique. He left the Camp Nou U19 team to join United.
Pique of course returned back to Catalonia four years later and has been ever-present since for both his club and country.
