Trinity Rodman, Dennis Rodman’s daughter, scores in National Women’s Soccer League debut

Trinity Rodman, the daughter of Hall of Fame basketball player Dennis Rodman, made the most of her professional soccer debut by scoring a goal Saturday in a game between the Washington Spirit and North Carolina Courage in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Rodman, an 18-year-old soccer star who became the youngest player ever to be drafted in the NWSL, was on the receiving end of a pinpoint pass from Washington teammate Ashley Sanchez. The Spirit lost to the Courage 3-2.

Rodman had just subbed in for teammate Kumi Yokoyama and scored on her first touch in the game’s 60th minute. Once her shot went through the back of the net, she was swarmed by teammates.

Prior to her pro career, Rodman was a finalist for U.S. Soccer’s Young Female Player of the Year, and was a standout for the U.S. U20 national team – scoring eight goals and adding six assists at the 2020 CONCACAF U20 Women’s Championship last March.

She was poised to play for Washington State as a freshman but the 2020 NCAA season was postponed until the spring.

Dennis Rodman won five NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons and was one of the most prolific defensive players and rebounders in NBA history.

Trinity Rodman told reporters earlier in the week: “No one asks about my mom because she’s not an NBA star, but I want people to know that my mom’s been my support system in everything in life, she’s my rock.”
