Eric Dier has fired back at the critics who claim Jose Mourinho has lost hold of the Tottenham dressing room.
Eric Dier has jumped in defence of Jose Mourinho amid recent criticism that the Portuguese manager has suffered.
Spurs recently lost 3-1 to Sheffield United. It continued what has been a bad run of form for the North London side.
After the game, Mourinho revealed he held a dressing room inquest afterwards as his side sit 10th in the Premier League table.
Critics were quick to speculate that the ex-United boss had lost hold of the dressing room. There were rumors already about Ndombele being unhappy with Mourinho over the past few weeks.
But Dier insists that all the Tottenham players are behind their manager, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino as head coach in November.
“That’s just the world we live in nowadays. I think it’s kind of crazy. We’ve been together a very short period of time. We’ve gone through circumstances which no one could foresee,” Dier told beIN Sports.
“The change of manager half way through the season, followed by many, many injuries and then the coronavirus pandemic.”
“There have been many obstacles to overcome and we hope that those things will bring us closer together.”
“Those kind of comments are just ridiculous really.”
Dier has been subject of exit talks over the past few months and statements like these would leave Mourinho optimistic over his renewal.
