Theo Hernández spoke to the press following Milan’s 2-0 friendly win.

The boys of Stefano Pioli continued their pre-season preparations on Sunday evening when they took on Olympique de Marseille at Stade Vélodrome.

Milan were superior to the side that finished 2nd in Ligue 1 last year in every step of the way and two well-worked goals from Junior Messias (12′) and Olivier Giroud (28′) sealed the deal early.

“We played an excellent match and we achieved a great success,” Theo Hernández told Sportitalia at the end of the match. “Stade Vélodrome? It’s a truly magnificent environment, a very hot crowd. Marseille? I think they have a good team, it was an even match.

“The objectives? We are working well, obviously we will look at the balances at the end.”

Theo also had an interview with MilanTV: “We had a really good game today. We are preparing to start the season well and from today’s game we can see that we are ready for August 13.

You were born here, in Marseille. Was it exciting for you today?
“It’s nice to play here, the fans and the atmosphere in this stadium is incredible. We played well and now we need to keep going.”

Of all the pre-seasons you’ve done with Milan, you seem particularly fit. How do you feel?
“It’s true that I’ve prepared better during this pre-season compared to last year but now we must continue the work, also with the help of our fitness coaches, who worked with us throughout the week. We must keep it up.
