Spurs set aside ‘big funds’ for key signing | Shoot

Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 1-1 draw by London rivals West Ham United on Tuesday evening.

The Lilywhites took the lead at The London Stadium through Brennan Johnson, but Hammers defender Kurt Zouma drew the hosts level.

Both sides missed chances to secure all three points, meaning that the match ended in a draw much to the frustration of Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

While Tottenham remain firmly in the hunt for a place in next season’s Champions League, it appears that those in charge of the club are looking ahead to this summer’s transfer window.

As reported by Football Insider, the North London club have set aside ‘big funds’ ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report claims that Tottenham are planning to make a statement striker signing this summer, a year after the departure of former talisman Harry Kane.

Spurs could spend big this summer

The England captain left London to join German side Bayern Munich last year, and Spurs are yet to replace him as the spearhead of their attack.

Since Kane’s departure, new club captain Son Heung-Min has primarily been deployed through the centre of Spurs’ attack, and the South Korea international has impressed.

He has scored 15 goals and registered eight assists in 27 games so far this term, while the likes of Brennan Johnson and Richarlison have also chipped in with attacking output.

It is also claimed that the Lilywhites have the option to buy loanee Timo Werner this summer for a fee of just £15 million.

The ex-Chelsea star arrived on loan from RB Leipzig in January, but he has primarily played on the left for Postecoglou’s side and the report claims that a potential permanent move for the Germany international wouldn’t impact their search for a striker.
