Tottenham have been in touch with former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri over the club’s vacant managerial post, according to reports in Italy.
Another ex-Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, was sacked by Spurs earlier this week. Interim manager Ryan Mason is set to lead the team out at Wembley for the League Cup final on Sunday.
But it seems Tottenham are looking further afield for Mourinho’s long-term successor, and it sounds like Sarri could be high up on the list of potential candidates.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims Sarri wants a return to London and has been in ‘frequent contact’ with Spurs for some time.
The 62-year-old won the Europa League at Chelsea but left after only one season to join Juventus, where he also lasted just a solitary campaign.
He is renowned for his possession-based style of play, something Tottenham are likely seeking after a spell of torrid football – and results – late in Mourinho’s tenure.
Whether Spurs fans will be happy about yet another manager with Chelsea links arriving at the club remains to be seen.
