Spurs defender who featured in pre-season set to leave before Friday’s 5pm deadline – report

Cameron Carter-Vickers is finally expected to leave Tottenham this week – with Championship outfit Bournemouth keen on signing the American defender on a permanent basis, according to Football Insider.

The 22-year-old centre-back hasn’t played for Spurs since early 2017 and has spent time on loan at Swansea, Stoke and Luton in recent seasons.

The United States defender, whose made just four first-team appearance for Tottenham, has entered the final 12 months of his deal and the Insider believe that Daniel Levy is demanding around £2.5-£3m for the Spurs Academy graduate.

Carter-Vickers has been linked with returns to both Swansea and Luton in recent weeks, but the recently-relegated Cherries appear to leading the race to sign him on a permanent basis.

He featured heavily in pre-season – with Jose Mourinho short on numbers due to Japhet Tanganga’s injury and Jan Vertonghen’s exit – but the youngster hasn’t been involved in any of Tottenham’s competitive matches and is clearly some way down the pecking order.
