Spurs aim to tempt Premier League defender to North London | Shoot

The final two weeks of the Premier League season with be without the usual tension and excitement of a relegation scrap, as the last week’s results have confirmed the three sides that will drop down to the Championship.

West Bromwich Albion’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday meant that they will join Sheffield United in the second division next term, the first time that Sam Allardyce has ever been relegated from the Premier League.

Just 24 hours later, Fulham’s disappointing defeat to Burnley ensured that they had the same fait.

Things could get worse for the Cottagers, as manager Scott Parker is reportedly on Spurs’ shortlist to be their next permanent manager.

It also looks like Tottenham could be trying to land more than one of Fulham’s main men, with TEAMtalk reporting that they are keen on signing Joachim Andersen on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old, who has spent the season loan from French side Lyon, has impressed despite the Cottagers’ miserable season and may well have earned himself a move to the Premier League with a number of clubs reportedly interested.

Daniel Levy will have to convince Andersen to join Spurs ahead of rivals Arsenal.

The Dane is allegedly open to the prospect of a long term move to England, however Spurs will face stiff competition from arch rivals Arsenal.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has named a defender on his wishlist as he aims to sort out his inconsistent defence, and Andersen’s performances for struggling Fulham this year have proven he has what it takes to cut it in the Premier League.

David Luiz is set to depart the club in the summer, while Calum Chambers and Rob Holding also face uncertain futures at the Emirates, meaning that Arteta could be left with just two senior centre-backs.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are claimed to be desperate to land the defender but will need to persuade him to join as he is not yet convinced, particularly while the club is without a permanent manager.
