Competition: La Liga
Market: Sevilla win to nil
Odds: 21/20 @ Bet 365
Hoping to move one step closer to securing a Champions League return, Sevilla will host Real Valladolid from behind closed doors on Friday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Sevilla might have been disappointed to have only snatched a point away at Villarreal last time out, they do sit in pole position to book a top-four return, despite drawing their last three La Liga matchups on the bounce. However, still boosted by what was an eye-catching 0-0 draw against defending champions Barcelona last week, Los Palanganas have gained plenty of admirers for their continued performances on home soil. Really enjoying a standout year under one-time Spain boss Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla are unbeaten in their last nine matchups at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and have recorded a clean sheet in three of their last four contests in Seville. With a showdown in the quarter-final of this year’s Europa League on the horizon, Sevilla should be looking to make a statement on Friday night.
As for the visitors, while Real Valladolid may have managed to snatch their own point off of Getafe in midweek, Sergio González’s men are a side continuing to show some glaring inconsistencies at the back end of the year. Almost stuck in La Liga limbo, Pucelanos have won just one of their last six La Liga matchups and have shown some worrying issues in the final third since returning from the enforced break. Along with losing three of their last four appearances on the road, Real Valladolid are also yet to score a single goal from open play since returning from the interruption. Hit with a 1-0 defeat when they faced off against Friday’s hosts earlier in the season, we’re backing a similar outcome this week.
