Spending more time on the pitch will help Cristiano Ronaldo get dusted off and gradually return to his best, according to Maurizio Sarri.
Four second-half goals saw Juventus ease past Leece last night and inch closer to landing their ninth-consecutive Scudetto.
The first half marked a quite dull performance for Juve. They failed to cause any significant trouble for the opponent defenders, except for one or two venomous shots. One of them was Cristiano Ronaldo surprisingly, or rather unsurprisingly considering his recent form, missing a clean header from close range.
However, they more than made up for it after the break. Paulo Dybala‘s exquisite strike gave the home side the lead before Ronaldo doubled it from the spot. Gonzalo Higuain also marked his return with a goal and Matthijs de Ligt’s header rounded off the 4-0 win.
Maurizio Sarri was thrilled to see his star man get on the scoresheet and says he will get only better as the season draws towards its end.
“Cristiano now can play with a good fit. He needs to improve after the break and he is doing so match after match. He needs to play a lot,” Sari said after the match [via Goal].
“In the future, we will find a way to preserve him across matches or for some matches. He is great in listening to himself and he will realize when he will need to stop and rest. But now I think he fits quite well.”
