Sancho move to Premier League giants closer upon official’s resignation | Shoot

With every football story being dominated by talks of the so called European Super League, it’s hoped this story will soon fizzle out and the only real drama surrounding the beautiful game will be consigned to on the pitch.

On Sunday, Manchester United travel to Leeds United in what will be the first Premier League meeting between the two rivals at Elland Road for 18 years.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have won their last five Premier League games and also host Roma in the Europa League semi-final next Thursday.

Despite a terrible start to the season, which saw United lose three out of their first four league matches, including the embarrassing 6-1 home defeat to former manager Jose Mourinho’s Spurs side, it has been an improved season for the second placed side.

While it has not been a campaign without its disappointments, in particular going out of the Champions League in the group stages, their place in the top-four is essentially assured bar a monumental collapse.

However, their mood and their chances next season could be set to be bolstered, as it is reported by the Daily Star that United’s chances of bringing England’s Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford have improved.

Sancho has 12 goals and 16 assists for Dortmund this season.

The Red Devils have been linked to the 21-year old for several seasons and have tried on multiple occasions to bring him to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund.

Unfortunately for United, the German side have been strong and resolute and have knocked back any offers for the former Manchester City academy player.

However, it is believed United’s chances of signing Sancho have improved greatly upon the resignation of executive-vice chairman Ed Woodward.

It is believed Woodward and Dortmund did not enjoy the best of professional relationships, with the German constantly getting one up on the Red Devils official, who was also beaten by the Bundesliga side to the signature of Jude Bellingham .

Now Woodward is set to leave Old Trafford, any chances of signing Sancho look to be improving for United.
