Brazilian legend Ronaldo has thrown his weight behind Lionel Messi as the number one player to watch in the world right now, but Cristiano Ronaldo curiously had no place on his top five list.
The 2002 World Cup winner went down as one of the greatest strikers in football’s illustrious history.
So it comes as no surprise to see him name five forward-minded players in his top five list of the players most pleasing on the eye in the current game.
Predictably, Argentine megastar Lionel Messi took centre-stage in his rankings.
“It is a talent that we will take 20 or 30 years to see something similar.”
“I also like Salah, Hazard, Neymar, that I love watching him play, of course Mbappe,” he added.
The latter on that list has recently been linked with a blockbuster move to Liverpool, though the finances of such a deal would be problematic to say the least.
Mbappe is tipped by many to become the player most likely to scoop the Ballon d’Or award once Messi and Ronaldo retire, and the Brazilian version expressed his thoughts about comparisons that have been made between himself and the PSG marksman.
“It says a lot of people who look like me, has a lot of speed, finishes well, has great movements, hits excellent with both legs, has an incredible stride.
“We have similar things, but I never liked comparisons, especially between players of different generations, because the situations are different.”
Meanwhile, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he did in fact take into consideration one of the key pitfalls that came with signing attacking duo Salah and Sadio Mane.
The duo moved to Anfield in the summers of 2016 and 2017, respectively, and have become undroppable components in Klopp’s team and are largely responsible for the Reds’ incredible upturn in form over the past three seasons.
However, despite their immense talents, both players come with a caveat.
