    Revealed: Footballers with highest earnings during injury spells

    US law firm GEJL Accident Attorneys has revealed a list of 50 athletes with the most earnings during their injury spells.

    Football players from around the world have been the subject of the study alongside NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL athletes.

    Neymar is the footballer with the most income during his spells on the sidelines. The Paris Saint-Germain winger has reportedly made more than €78m while being out of action at different clubs.

    Former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is the next footballer on the list, with earnings of around €60m.

    A surprising revelation is the presence of Lionel Messi, who has made more than €60m while being out of action. Messi ranks 21 among the studies’ entire list of athletes.

    His teammate Kylian Mbappe is 27th on the 50-man ranking with earnings of around €35m. The Frenchman is one place above Cristiano Ronaldo, who has made €34m while being out of action.

    Baseball star Justin Verlander leads the overall ranking, making a staggering amount of €243,919,000 during his injury periods. The following four athletes on the list are also from the MLB.
