Real Zaragoza 21/20 to beat Extremadura UD in Tuesday’s Segunda showdown

    Competition: Spanish Segunda

    Market: Real Zaragoza win

    Odds: 21/20 @ Bet 365

In a real showdown between two sides battling it out at opposite ends of the Segunda table, title-chasers Real Zaragoza will make the trip to Extremadura UD from behind closed doors on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Extremadura UD may have managed to come from behind to scrape a point off of Malaga on the road over the weekend, Azulgranas have continued on an extended rut either side of the break. Still yet to pick up maximum points since way back on February 23rd, Manuel Mosquera’s men now find themselves sat five points adrift of safety and on the verge of losing their Segunda status. With just four second-tier contests remaining, there is no doubt that fans around Almendralejo will be growing more concerned by their side’s rather glaring issues on home soil. Including a 1-0 defeat against Albacete earlier in the month, Tuesday’s hosts have collected just three points over their last four appearances at the Francisco de la Hera.

As for the visitors, hit with back-to-back defeats on home soil since returning from the enforced break, Real Zaragoza should be relishing another trip away from the Estadio de la Romareda in midweek. Knowing that three points on Tuesday would see them leapfrog Cádiz to top spot, Los Maños have gained a reputation for their recent performances on the road. Including a deserved 3-1 win away at Lugo earlier in the month, Head Coach Víctor Fernández has yet to see his side taste defeat on their travels since opening 2020. With a golden opportunity to make a return to winning ways in midweek, Zaragoza should also be boosted by a stellar record against Tuesday’s hosts. Landing a 3-1 romp when the two sides faced off earlier in the season, Los Maños have won each of their last three matchups against the relegation scrappers.
