Real Madrid The playmaker didn’t make the most of his opportunity
James Rodriguez was the surprise name in Zinedine Zidane‘s starting line-up to play against Real Sociedad on Sunday night.
The Colombian hadn’t played in LaLiga Santander for Los Blancos since October, but started alongside Karim Benzema and Vinicius in attack.
During the match, James didn’t look comfortable in his position out on the right wing and wasn’t very involved in Real Madrid‘s attacking play.
Once he switched to play on the left side of the attack in the 30th minute, everything improved for the 28-year-old.
After the break, he played in a much more central role until he was replaced by Marco Asensio in the 78th minute.
All in all, James spurned the chance to impress handed to him by his coach, especially considering he hasn’t been a part of Zidane‘s plans this season.
