Achraf Hakimi’s sale to Inter was always going to spark a debate, but Dani Carvajal is one person who clearly benefits from the transfer.
It seems that the young full-back never fully convinced Zinedine Zidane despite doing well on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
“Two things matter at this club: the economic side and the sporting side,” Zidane said without clarifying which of the factors were behind Achraf‘s sale.
It does appear, though, that both played a part.
Receiving 40 million euros up front and five more in variables in the post-COVID climate is something that cannot be sniffed at, while Dani Carvajal has been showing great consistency on the pitch this season.
Zidane has complete confidence in Carvajal, letting him play every minute he’s been fit for since the restart, with his only break coming in the second half against Eibar after he took a blow to the ankle and was protected.
