Raul’s time is now: Close to Castilla promotion and the Real Madrid first-team job

It’s Raul Gonzalez‘s time. The Castilla boss, after a tough season, could be set to earn promotion to the Segunda Division with the side and is making a case to be Real Madrid‘s next coach.

His first learning experiences came during his time at Al Sadd, but it was in 2018 that he had the chances to take a job at Real Madrid, which opened the doors to Valdebebas for him.

This weekend, Raul‘s Castilla are in action hoping to earn their first promotion in nine years, and he is being linked with the first-team job ahead of the 2020/21 season. A lot of people view him as the natural replacement to Zinedine Zidane, and the one to carry on the work done by the Frenchman

Raul has done incredibly well with Castilla, even leading them to their best Youth League performance in their history, despite having to manage injuries, postponements due to COVID, and even having players called up for first-team duty.

Add the love that Real Madrid fans have for Raul to the mix, and you have a candidate that has a lot of support should Zidane leave this summer. His character and dedication was always loved during his time there as a player, and he has impressed with his values as a coach too.

    The Madridistas like him

What he is doing hasn’t gone unnoticed, and former club Schalke even called him during the season as they – unsuccessfully – battled against relegation. In recent weeks, Eintracht Frankfurt have done the same ahead of next season.

Raul is ready for his next step, but where that will take him remains to be seen.
