Premier League fans have been treated to a goal-rush over the opening weeks of the new season with the division’s attacking talent in fine form, none more so that Tottenham duo Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane who have combined brilliantly thus far.
The two have led the charge in English football for goal involvements following an electric start, but where do the Spurs strikers rank amongst the finest forwards in Europe.
Here are the six players with the most goal involvements in Europe’s top five leagues:
Memphis Depay – 8
Memphis Depay missed a large portion of last season after suffering a serious knee injury but has returned to full fitness in impressive fashion, finishing the campaign strongly as Lyon reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before beginning the new season in a similar vein.
Depay has already directly contributed to eight league goals for the French side, scoring five times including an opening day hat-trick for Rudi Garcia’s side against Dijon.
The Netherlands international has also provided three assists for Lyon so far, his eight goal involvements coming in just five starts with the forward proving a talismanic figure so far.
Barcelona were reportedly interested in the player’s services last summer with Ronald Koeman keen on a reunion with a talent he previously coached at international level, the Catalans likely to head a large queue for his services with Depay keen on trying his luck again at a major club.
Florian Thauvin – 8
The second Ligue 1 talent to make this list, Florian Thauvin sits level with Memphis on eight goal involvements so far this season.
Thauvin endured a difficult and unhappy period when signing for Newcastle earlier in his career, but since returning to former side Marseille has established himself as one of the division’s best attacking talents.
The winger scored 53 league goals over three seasons between 2016 and 2019, but missed almost the entirety of last season after undergoing surgery on a troublesome ankle problem.
Marseille – who secured Champions League qualification in his absence – will be delighted to have the 10-cap France international back amongst their ranks, Thauvin scoring three goals and providing five assists so far – the most in the division.
Kylian Mbappe – 9
Kylian Mbappe stands as the star turn of French football at present and leads Ligue 1 for goal involvements over the opening weeks of the campaign, scoring six goals and providing three assists for Paris Saint-Germain to date.
Mbappe has established himself as the leading forward in the division and has won the Golden Boot in each of the past two campaigns, and the 21-year-old will be the favourite once more after taking an early lead at the top alongside Metz striker Ibrahima Niane.
Mbappe’s tally comes despite missing the opening three games of the season after testing positive for coronavirus, the World Cup winner scoring in four of PSG’s five fixtures to leave the champions top of the division.
The sole game Mbappe failed to score saw the star set up both goals in a 2-0 victory at Stade Reims, the youngster remaining PSG’s shining light as they bid to continue their domestic dominance and win a maiden Champions League this season.
Son Heung Min – 10
The early leader in the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot, Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min has been in electric form for a Jose Mourinho side sticking two fingers up at suggestions their manager favours a pragmatic approach.
The north London side are the leading scorers in the division on 16 goals and Son has scored exactly half of that total, including a sensational four-goal haul in a 5-2 thrashing of Southampton last month.
Son has also netted in wins over Manchester United and Burnley alongside a draw with West Ham, whilst also providing two assists to take his goal involvements into double figures.

Spurs’ potent attack has created a tentative optimism that the club could challenge in what appears to be an open Premier League season, their South Korean star currently leading the charge with performances of speed, skill and fine finishing.
Harry Kane – 13
The second part of Spurs’ striking double-act, Harry Kane has been arguably the Premier League’s stand-out player following a record-breaking start to the campaign.
Kane has scored five times for Jose Mourinho’s side so far including doubles against both Manchester United and West Ham, though it is his creative qualities which have took the majority of the headlines with the forward excelling as both a playmaker and goalscorer.
Kane’s eight assists are the most in the Premier League and more than double the tally of the next best creator, his haul already bettering his career-best and making it 13 goal involvements for the season.

That tally has seen the England captain break the record for most Premier League goal involvements after just six fixtures and raised the possibility of Kane becoming just the second player in the division’s history – after Andy Cole for Newcastle in 1993/94 – to finish as the Premier League’s leading scorer and assist provider in the same season.
Robert Lewandowski – 13
But for its cancellation amid a seemingly unfair judging spectrum, Robert Lewandowski would almost certainly be heading towards a maiden Ballon d’Or in 2020.
