Former Everton defender Michael Ball has exclusively told Football FanCast that Kalidou Koulibaly would be a Carlo Ancelotti signing.
The Toffees have struggled defensively this season, with the 29-year-old believed to be close to the top of Ancelotti’s wish-list this summer.
Should Everton sign Aaron Ramsey?
Both Mason Holgate and Michael Keane have made costly mistakes in recent weeks, Yerry Mina has been short of consistency, with Ben Godfrey impressing in a fragile Everton backline.
They have the third-worst defensive record in the top-nine in the Premier League this season, which has led to strong reports that they’re planning a move for the Napoli and Senegalese captain, who’s been one of the most highly rated centre-backs in Europe for several years.
A move to Goodison Park would see the £45m-rated defender reunite with Ancelotti after the pair spent 18 months together during the Italian’s spell in charge of the Serie A giants.
But Ball told Football FanCast that a potential move all depends on Ancelotti’s budget:
“It’s all priorities of where the finances are, whether we can spend the money.
“Koulibaly has been one that even Jose Mourinho was after at Manchester United, it would be a Carlo signing, not a Marcel Brands type of signing, as there won’t be much resale value and will be the top end of the wage bill at the club.”
