Premier League to amend rules to prevent breakaway

    Rule changes

The Times are reporting that the Premier League are planning on changing the rules this summer so that clubs could be expelled from the league if they look to join a breakaway Super League in the future.

Premier League chiefs are reportedly planning to bring in a rule this summer which will allow them to expel any clubs who join a Super League in the future and even make it illegal to do so.

A governance review is already underway by Chief Executive Richard Masters alongside the FA and will now focus specifically on ending any such future threat as part of the changes. He will look to push the new rules through in the June annual general meeting.

The ‘Big Six’, Mancester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all withdrew from the Super League on Tuesday after severe backlash from supporters and the other 14 clubs want to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Wembley is set to get an extra last 16 tie, which could be England, when UEFA meet to address the uncertainty around matches in Dublin, Bilbao and Munich tomorrow.

101 reported on Dublin being likely to miss out recently but it won’t be those games which England get as they are fixture clashes. The games set for Bilabo may go to Seville.

The game they could get is the last 16 game, which will feature the winner of England group.
