Pierre-Emile Hobjerg explains what he “really likes” about two Spurs teammates

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has heaped praise on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for their consistency and work-rate after Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Wolves.

Goals from Kane and Hojbjerg were enough to secure all three points for Spurs on Sunday, strengthening their grip on Europa League qualification with two matches to go.

Kane scored his 32nd goal of the season across all competitions, while Son was a threat throughout and was involved in the build-up to Hojbjerg’s strike.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard after the match, Hojbjerg explained why he is such a big admirer of Kane and Son.

He said: “This is the biggest target for this team, to have a consistent attitude in our work. This is the same for every top team, there is nothing different at Bayern Munich in terms of the targets.

“If you want to be part of the big players, the big teams and big finals this is what you have to do. You have to be on it every single day.

“You don’t have to reach the limit every single day but your mind has to be there with the best, with the hardest work, with the top, top players if you want to be a part of it.

“This is what I really like about these guys now. Harry, for example, has been so consistent in this behaviour, so consistent in his work rate and it is not a coincidence he is one of the best players in the world.

“For me, the most important for these guys is to be around him not just to support him but to see how it works.

“Sonny worked so hard but he didn’t get an assist or goal [against Wolves] but he worked as hard as he does and he is more important than ever.

“The quality or the goal will come but the hard work and attitude is what you need every single day and they are showing that they are among the best players not only in the league but also in the world.”

Despite a dip in form in recent weeks, Hojbjerg himself should also be praised for his consistency across the campaign.

The Dane made Kane’s opener against Wolves with a pinpoint pass and took his goal well, but it was his hard work in midfield that made Spurs fans vote him man of the match.

Those supporters will be hoping the club can bring in some more hard workers in the summer transfer window.
