Paratici justifies Ronaldo’s bumper salary at Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo is a special case and deserves every single bit of money he’s being paid at Juventus, says Fabio Paratici.

Cristiano Ronaldo is more than just a footballer and an athlete and that should equally reflect in his wages at the club, says Juventus Chief Football Officer Fabio Paratici.

Over recent weeks, CR7 has been subjected to criticism, with many claiming he has stunted the growth of the club while taking on a massive bumper salary.

Ronaldo is believed to earn around €31m-a-year at Juventus, which effectively makes him the highest-paid player at Juventus and in Serie A history as well.

Speaking on the matter, Paratici went on to defend the club’s stance and why they pay their star forward that much.

“Last week, I said we must be responsible for what we’re doing. We are facing a period of uncertainty,” Paratici said as per Sky Sport Italia.

“Cristiano is not just a footballer and an athlete, but also a character of a high level, so his salary reflects that. Some researches show he is the most known person in the world. His case is different from others.”

Ronaldo was also absent for Juventus’ game against Atalanta, and Paratici adds that the club made a decision not to risk the 36-year-old.

“Ronaldo has played so many games this season. He was supposed to be handled differently by Portugal, but he eventually played three games [during the international break],” the Juventus director told Sky Sport Italia.

“Yesterday, he wasn’t feeling 100 percent fit with problems in his flexor, and we didn’t want to take any risk. It’s a decision we took together.”
