OL Reign – Equalizer Soccer

    New name, new coach, new crest and new motivations. OL Reign has a new look as a club and on the pitch this season. After making the National Women’s Soccer League playoffs the past two seasons, but not the final, OL Reign is eyeing up the chance to lift a trophy at the Challenge Cup.

    Roster churn

    Shirley Cruz highlighted plenty of moving parts for OL Reign this offseason. The Costa Rican international and captain brings a wealth of European experience, featuring previously for Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain. After a brief stint back in Costa Rica with Alajuelense, Cruz followed her former head coach Farid Benstiti to the NWSL.

    OL Reign also added forward Sofia Huerta and defender Amber Brooks, via a trade with the Houston Dash. In exchange, the Reign are now without the services of defender Megan Oyster and forward Shea Groom.
