Obafemi: I’m here to score goals

After netting Southampton’s dramatic late equaliser against Manchester United, Michael Obafemi was delighted to have made an impact from the bench.

Introduced in the 87th minute with Saints trailing 2-1, the 20-year-old was perfectly placed deep into stoppage time to convert from close range and grab his fourth goal of the campaign.

Extending Southampton’s unbeaten run to four in the Premier League, Obafemi said: “It was an amazing performance from the boys and a great point away from home, even though we wanted to get all three.

it’s what i’m here to do. I won’t beat around the bush.

“There was an Under-18s [FA] Youth Cup match I was supposed to play here, but I got ill with chicken pox. I’ve come here today and got my goal, and that’s what I wanted to get here so I’m thankful I’ve done that.
