Newcastle training photos hint at Saint-Maximin availability vs Liverpool

Photos stemming from Newcastle United’s training ground on Thursday will no doubt bring a smile to the faces of the club’s fans.

    Newcastle on the up

Steve Bruce’s men are set to return to action on Saturday afternoon.

The Magpies will make the trip to Anfield, for a daunting Premier League meeting with champions Liverpool.

Newcastle will no doubt head to Merseyside with confidence high in the club’s camp, though, on the back of a timely upturn in form of late.

After being sucked back into the relegation battle, Bruce and co. have managed to secure seven points from an available nine over the last couple of weeks, with their latest outing having seen the Geordie outfit down high-flying West Ham by 3 goals to 2.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have been held to successive stalemates in their last two outings, versus Real Madrid and Leeds.

As such, Saturday’s visitors to Anfield could well fancy their chances of an upset, a result which would all-but secure their top-flight status for another season.

And, on Thursday, Newcastle’s hopes of exactly that have been handed a boost.

This comes in the form of the return of a key member of Steve Bruce’s squad to training. The player in question? Allan Saint-Maximin.

Wide-man Saint-Maximin was of course forced out of the Magpies’ meeting with West Ham last time out, after picking up an ankle problem.

In turn, with the Frenchman having majorly struggled for fitness this season, his participation this weekend was immediately thrown up in the air.

If the latest photos emerging from Newcastle’s training ground are anything to go by, though, then Saint-Maximin looks in line to feature from the off:

Fabian Schar’s return to first-team training has also been confirmed:
