Napoli make late Gabriel Magalhaes bid

Napoli have made a late bid for Lille OSC defender Gabriel Magalhaes as they attempt to steal the show on Arsenal, according to Sky Sports.

Lille revealed earlier that three clubs had met their asking price for Gabriel, believed to be Napoli, Everton and Arsenal.

The 22-year-old was reportedly a subject of interest for Manchester United too, but while United never really showed any signs of making an actual move, Everton are now believed to be out of the race. A story which emerged on Tuesday said that Arsenal were closing in on getting the deal done with the player preferring a Premier League move, but Napoli are now trying to convince him to choose Italy as his next destination instead, offering him what is described as a ‘big salary’.

Arsenal are apparently still the favorites, but the player and his representatives are seriously considering the proposal of the Serie A side.
