Michael Carrick quizzed on Ralf Rangnick’s influence on Manchester United team vs Chelsea

Michael Carrick has responded to a question about Ralf Rangnick having an influence on Manchester United’s team on Sunday.

    Ralf Rangnick to take charge?

Following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it has been widely reported that Ralf Rangnick is set to take charge of United as their interim manager for the remainder of the season.

But, though some reliable sources, like David Ornstein, have stated this will happen, the German was not in the dugout on Sunday, with Michael Carrick again tasked with this role.

And Carrick will likely be largely pleased with what he saw from his side on the day. In truth, Manchester United looked to be clear underdogs against table-topping Chelsea, but were able to come away with a 1-1 draw and probably could have won the tie had Aaron Wan-Bissaka not given away a silly penalty to cancel out Jadon Sancho’s opener.

    Carrick quizzed on Rangnick influence

Despite not being appointed Man United manager on Sunday, some, including Gary Neville, believed that the former RB Leipzig manager had some influence on the team selection:

However, when quizzed on Rangnick being involved in Man United’s preparation for the Chelsea game, Carrick denied this:
