Soualiho Meïté may be thrown into the starting XI already tonight against Atalanta but in an advanced role.
The Rossoneri face Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta tonight at San Siro (18:00 CET) in what will surely be a very difficult match.
As reported by Sky Italia’s Peppe Di Stefano, in order to deal with Atalanta’s impressive strength and physicality, coach Pioli is considering to play new signing Meïté in the attacking midfielder role.
Meïté was brought in to play double-pivot but yesterday in training Pioli tried the 26-year-old, who arrived from Torino in this mercato, behind Zlatan Ibrahimović and alongside Samu Castillejo and Rafael Leão in attack. Soualiho is therefore a candidate for the starting position tonight.
Should Meïté play from the start, Brahim Diaz would be relegated to the bench. Hakan Çalhanoğlu is still positive for COVID-19 and he’ll miss the match.
