Wesley Sneijder believes Real Madrid are the club Lautaro Martinez should opt for if he is resolute on parting ways with Inter Milan.
FC Barcelona have not exactly been subtle about their admiration of Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez and the desire to join forces with him at the end of this season.
Head coach Quique Setien earlier welcomed the prospect of being able to coach Martinez while acclaiming him as a ‘great footballer’.
Luis Suarez has labeled the 22-year old as his successor and urged his side to push for his transfer. Lionel Messi himself too previously heaped praise on him which suggested that he is very much open to playing alongside his compatriot at Camp Nou.
A recent report even claimed that Barcelona have agreed on personal terms with the Argentine and the transfer will follow in due time after the two clubs agree on his valuation.
But former Inter Milan hero Wesley Sneijder believes Martinez should stay put and aim to build his legacy at San Siro.
“He’s very good, but he must stay in Italy,” Sneijder told Gianluca Di Marzio.
“He can become one of the best, but first he needs to win something with the Nerazzurri.
“There’s a moment to do everything. He could play at Barcelona and of course, if he really wants to leave, I would have preferred a move to Real [Madrid].”
