Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick speaks out on Anthony Martial bust up

    Miscommunication or shots fired?

There was something of a clash between Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick and forward Anthony Martial in the aftermath of their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, which saw Manchester United fall yet further behind in the race for the top 4.

And, despite a start for Anthony Elanga, and the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford, there was no sign of Martial among the substitutes.

Quizzed on the situation, caretaker Ralf Rangnick revealed:

“He didn’t want to be in the squad.

He would have been in the squad normally but he didn’t want to and that was the reason why he didn’t travel with us yesterday (Friday).”

However, Martial hit back. Taking to Instagram, he claimed:

“I will never refuse to play a match for Man United. I’ve been here for 7 years and I never disrespected and will never disrespect the club and the fans.”

Now, they seem to have made up.

    Rangnick lifts lid

Now, speaking ahead of Manchester United’s midweek clash with Brentford on Wednesday night, it seems as though Ragnick has cleared the air.

Fielding questions on the issue, the German revealed:

“I had a conversation with Anthony on Sunday, a personal conversation with him about what happened and how I saw the whole situation. The matter is now resolved. Let’s see”

Martial is still expected to depart this summer, with a trio of European clubs looking at bringing the Frenchman in on loan for the remainder of the season.

Is his relationship at Manchester United strained to the point for breaking?
