Manchester City set an English record in win over Newcastle

    Man City see off Newcastle

Manchester City faced a trip to Newcastle United on Friday evening.

The tie was of little importance to either side, with the Magpies having already secured their top-flight status for another campaign and City, of course, having been named Premier League champions for a 3rd time in five years earlier this week.

That, though, did not stop the clubs playing out a very entertaining affair.

Newcastle would give it their all and did actually put three past Scott Carson in the City goal.

But a Ferran Torres hat-trick and a single Joao Cancelo strike would be enough to see City come away with all three points:

    Man City make English history

Following the win over Newcastle, it was revealed that Man City have set another record.

Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, the Manchester outfit have already achieved the highest-ever points total in a single Premier League campaign – 100 during 2017/18.

Man City would also become the first male English side to clinch the domestic treble during the 2018/19 season when they won the league, FA Cup and League Cup.

And now, after going unbeaten in their last 23 away games in all competitions, City have set the record for the longest ever unbeaten away run by a side in England’s top-four leagues.
