Manchester City humiliated the new Premier League champions, netting four past Liverpool at the Etihad this evening.
Magical Kevin de Bruyne, clinical Raheem Sterling and impressive Phil Foden guided Manchester City to a 4-0 victory over their successors on the throne of English football – Liverpool.
De Bruyne broke the deadlock at the Etihad Stadium in the 25th minute, as he converted a penalty earned by Liverpool’s academy graduate Raheem Sterling.
Sterling himself, found by Phil Foden doubled City’s lead 10 minutes later, while Foden made it 3-0, as Kevin de Bruyne registered his 17th assists for the campaign.
The final score was set in the second half, when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain deflected Sterling’s shot and put the ball in his own net. Not a bad way for City to announce themselves as challengers for Liverpool’s title next season.
