Malik Jabir insists Kotoko’s participation in Africa next season is needless

Former Asante Kotoko manager, Malik Jabir has indicated that the board of the club should rethink the decision to play in Africa in the 2020/2021 football season.

Following the abrupt cancelation of the Ghanaian 2019/2020 football season as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has selected the Porcupine Warriors club to play in the next edition of the CAF Champions League.

According to veteran coach Malik Jabir, participating in Africa in difficult times like this is needless.

Speaking to Otec FM, the former gaffer of Asante Kotoko has urged the club to reconsider.

“I hope they (The board) think about it before taking this decision. I don’t know how Kotoko will feel about participating in this year’s Africa competition because we’ve not played a competitive league in Ghana for the past three (3) years”, he said.

Coach Jabir continued, “It’s okay if their motive is to go and try than to win the cup. We must prepare well for it, if not then we should forget”.

Kotoko last week confirmed to the Ghana FA that they will represent the country in the Champions League. They will play in Africa together with Ashanti Gold SC that has been selected to play in the Confederations Cup.
