Leicester City surrendered third place in the Premier League table after losing to Chelsea on Tuesday evening, a result which also saw their Champions League qualification hopes take a bitter blow.
Just three days after the two clubs went head-to-head in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, the Foxes travelled across London to Stamford Bridge to take on Thomas Tuchel’s men once again, but this time the outcome was reversed.
Youri Tielemans’ 30-yard stunning secured Leicester their maiden FA Cup crown over the weekend, however, the Midlands outfit couldn’t do the double and succumbed to efforts from Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho.
The victory saw Chelsea leapfrog their opponents in the top-flight standings, with Brendan Rodgers’ charges now hoping either Burnley or Crystal Palace can get a result against Liverpool as they look to finish inside the top four.
It was a bad night all around for the King Power Stadium outfit, but one man, in particular, had a night to forget. Teenage full-back Luke Thomas seemed to suffer under the spotlight midweek, putting in an extremely underwhelming display.
Although it’s hard to criticise the 19-year-old, given his exceptional recent exploits against Manchester United where he scored an outstanding goal and in the cup final where he provided an assist, his performance at Stamford Bridge massively let Rodgers down.
Is Thomas good enough for Leicester?
As per SofaScore, the versatile defender had a passing accuracy of just 58%, he completed none of his six attempted long balls and also failed to complete any of four of his attempted dribbles.
To make matters worse, Thomas was also awarded a miserly 6.1/10 rating, the joint-lowest total of any player on the pitch alongside the equally disappointing Ajoze Perez, and he also won just 43% of his duels.
It was a tough night for the £2.7m-rated (as per Transfermarkt) Englishman, one which may end up contributing to his club missing out on a top-four finish as Chelsea found a lot of joy down his wing.
