    Lazio lose to relegation-threatened Lecce

Lazio lost two-one to relegation-threatened Lecce, giving Juventus the chance to open up a ten-point lead at the top of Serie A.

When the whistle blew to start tonight’s game between Lazio and Lecce, one was in the relegation zone and the other in second place chasing down first.

It should have been an easy night’s work of Simone Inzaghi’s men when the pair met earlier in the season Lazio ran out convincing four-two winners.

Tonight looked like it might be a similar affair when Caicedo opened the scoring for the visitors in just the fifth minute.

But Inzaghi’s men were simply unable to make possession count for anything more.

In the 30th minute, the hosts fired back when Babacar headed home to tie things up.

As the second half got underway Lecce came out the blocks at lightning speed and punished the lackluster Lazio. Fabio Lucioni heading number two into the back of the net for the home team.

Lazio poured forward but was unable to break down a team fighting for their Serie A life.

Other than a moment of madness from Patric of Lazio who appeared to go all Luis Suarez on Lecce’s Donati and bite his arm. Rightly so he was shown a straight red for violent conduct.

The game ended with Lecce now out of the relegation zone, one point clear of danger. While Inzaghi’s Lazio will be hoping Ibrahimovic and Milan can do them a favor against Juventus.

The Bianconeri could open up a ten-point lead on second place.
