Ali Krieger said Friday in an Instagram post that she is “one of a handful of” Orlando Pride players who tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, but then tested negative on Tuesday.

The Equalizer first reported on Thursday that the five players Orlando players who tested positive on Sunday — which, along with four staff members who tested positive, prompted the team to withdraw from the upcoming National Women’s Soccer League Challenge Cup — tested negative in the latest round. The Pride confirmed later Thursday that there were “inconsistencies” in the latest tests.

Krieger posted on Friday: “Confused yet? Yeah, same. You can say it has been a ride of emotions. I am constantly questioning if I did all the right things leading up to this result — and I can confidently say, yes.”

She continued: “I’m gutted. I feel angry, sad, upset, frustrated, disappointed and haven’t really slept in days.”

Krieger expressed hope that there will be more opportunities for NWSL competition this year beyond the Challenge Cup.
