    Kai Havertz could join Liverpool?

Bayer Leverkusen talent Kai Havertz could reportedly team up with compatriot manager Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side. The attacking midfielder has been producing the goods for years now for the German top-flight club. With his raw ability and unrivalled potential, the 21-year-old is attracting interest from all over the world. The clubs that are allegedly interested in the German include Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. However, Merseyside club Liverpool are seemingly Havertz’ main suitors.

The Reds have aced in the Premier League this season, only losing one game – to 17th place Watford. They currently sit 1st place in the English top tier, 25 points clear of second-place Manchester City. Klopp’s men have been triumphant going forward, as well as being very strong defensively. They look set to win the league title, however, their midfield – that comprises of defensive midfielder Fabinho, captain Jordan Henderson and Dutch central midfielder Gino Wijnaldum – is notably the weakest third of Liverpool’s lineup. The Northern side often rely on defensive striker Roberto Firmino – or full-backs Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold – to provide chances to the squad’s goalscorers: Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. There is a gap in the team for an attacking midfielder that has an eye for goal, yet boasts the ability to thread intricate passes. Kai Havertz is the man to fill this gap.

Kai Havertz wants to leave the club

Havertz has picked up a phenomenal 23 goal contributions so far in all competitions this season – one of the greatest stats in the Bundesliga. However, the transfer speculation has prompted Havertz to speak about it; and it is not good news for any Leverkusen fans.

The German-international said: “I think I’ve picked up enough international experience at Leverkusen. I know the rhythm of these international matches and I’m confident that I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany.

“For the moment, I want to have a good season. Afterwards, we’ll see.”

Havertz added: “The team is always the priority, success is collective.

“Then, the individual [trophies] come when you play well. I want to win the biggest trophies during in my career: Champions League, World Cup or Euros. I don’t think much about the individual [trophies].

“They (Bayern) are probably the biggest club in Germany and there are many players that were very successful at a young age that went there.0

“Therefore, I get linked with Bayern, but we’ll see what happens. There are players that want to stay close to their family and others say, ‘I want to live in another country’.”

COVID-19 has severely damaged Liverpool’s finances, according to reports. They have been strongly linked with RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, with the German striker looking set to play at Anfield next season. However, this would only be for an opponent, as he looks likely to be playing for top-four rival Chelsea. Despite Premier League glory paying out very well, Liverpool aren’t willing to risk the club’s financial fate by signing a star player. Havertz is valued at a hefty £90M, which would exceed the English club’s transfer budget for this season. This price tag should not worry The Reds. They have a history of negotiating wonderful deals for players that would otherwise cost millions more – Sadio Mane from Southampton and Mohamed Salah from Roma amongst others.

It remains yet to be seen whether Havertz will remain in Germany, or travel abroad. Whoever signs Havertz, though, will be set for victory.
