Juventus have reportedly reached an agreement with Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik over a summer move. Milik continues to deny his contract extension with the Naples outfit, meaning a summer transfer is on the cards. The Bianconeri have now left the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham behind their trail in the transfer race for the Polish striker. The report also adds that Milik has given his nod to the transfer move, with Juve yet to finalise a deal with the Partenopei.

    The quest to replace Higuain

Bianconeri have been linked with an array of strikers – Mauro Icardi, Gabriel Jesus, Federico Chiesa and Harry Kane – as they wanted to replace Gonzalo Higuain on the long term. The Argentine is clearly in his decline and would find it difficult to fight for his place next season though he is led by his favourite manager Maurizio Sarri. Furthermore, Higuain has been linked with a move to his homeland, with Boca Juniors wanting for his transfer.

    Milik – a prolific striker

Milik has managed to found the net 12 times this season despite missing out on games sporadically due to injuries. However, his standout season in the Partenopei shirt was the 18/19 campaign, where he bagged 20 goals across all competitions. He also played a big role in giving Carlo Ancelotti’s side a second-place finish in the Scudetto race. Though his time in Italy has been somewhat hindered by the injuries, Milik has proved to be productive whenever he was offered the chances.

How could he fit in at Sarri’s side?

The 26-year-old would inherit the role of Higuain should he make a move to Turin this summer. With his towering presence, Milik is good as a target man, holding on to the ball and shielding it and bringing the fellow attackers to play as well as doing layoffs. Sarri could benefit from this factor. While also being deadly in the box, the Polish striker can develop a rapport with the overlapping No.10 – mainly Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi.

Milik’s development would be on the radar once the Italian top-flight returns this month. He has scored two goals in the last four matches of Serie A before the brief halt. Having said to be rated at around 40m and keeping in mind his age factor, Milik would be a good addition to the Old Lady.
