John Fleck recovering in hospital after collapsing during Reading vs Sheffield United

Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck is recovering in hospital after collapsing on the pitch during their 1-0 win over Reading on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred partway through the second half at the Madejski Stadium with the game being halted for some time while Fleck was treated.

Sheffield United tweeted at the time: “Concerning moments as urgent medical attention needed for John Fleck. Play is yet to restart but the Scottish midfielder is on his feet and receiving further medical care.”

They later added: “John Fleck leaves the field on a stretcher after receiving urgent medical care. Our thoughts are with you, Flecky!”

The Blades, who were 1-0 up at the time, went on to see out the victory and dedicated the three points to Fleck at full-time.
